John McCabe brings 20 years of experience designing and delivering secure, scalable, and cost-effective IT infrastructure for some of the world's largest organizations. Before joining The Cavan Group, John served as Director of Enterprise Architecture at Staples Inc., a $24 billion global enterprise, where he led a team of 18 across IT governance, infrastructure design, and architecture — including a $36 million data center consolidation and the build-out of a next-generation hybrid cloud platform.
At The Cavan Group, John serves enterprise clients in financial services, healthcare, and industrial manufacturing, developing mission-critical infrastructure strategies across on-premises, hosted, and public cloud environments. His engagements have included a 5-year infrastructure strategy for a large medical services organization navigating a major acquisition, and the program management of a 350-application portfolio migration across 16 locations. He began his career at Accenture and holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a BA in Music from the University of Colorado, and holds TOGAF 9 and ITIL v.3 Foundation certifications.
Mark Wilme joined The Cavan Group in 2014, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the financial services sector across the US and UK. At Cavan, Mark oversees consulting and program management engagements from end to end — with direct responsibility for deliverable quality, client satisfaction, and the ongoing development of Cavan's workload placement practice.
His consulting expertise spans data center strategy and budget development, solution sourcing and evaluation, data center consolidation and migration planning, IT disaster recovery, and technology governance. Mark takes a hands-on approach across Cavan's most complex engagements, including post-acquisition integrations, hosting strategy development, and IT roadmap execution.
Prior to Cavan, Mark held senior leadership roles at some of the most respected institutions in financial services. At BNY Mellon, he served as Managing Director of Information Technology, leading the complex post-acquisition integration of PNC Global Investment Servicing — migrating 140 business applications with highly complex interdependencies. Earlier at PNC and its subsidiary PFPC, he held a series of SVP and Director roles spanning IT governance, enterprise portfolio management, vendor management, information security, and a $68 million IT organization of 350 staff. He began his career at First Data Corporation.
Dan Donahue brings more than 25 years of executive and advisory experience in technology and telecommunications to his work with The Cavan Group. Having served as CIO and EVP of Strategy at major telecom and technology companies, and as a practice leader at several of the top consulting firms in the U.S., Dan brings a rare combination of C-suite operational experience and hands-on consulting depth.
At Cavan, Dan focuses on engagements where IT infrastructure decisions intersect with major business events — particularly M&A transactions, where his expertise spans the full deal timeline: operational due diligence, First 100 Day planning, sign-to-close execution, post-merger integration, and separations. He has overseen more than 30 major client engagements across new technology strategies, systems design and integration, ERP reviews, network consolidations, and outsourcing.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
Kate Donahue joined The Cavan Group in 2024, bringing a distinctive background that spans clinical research operations and enterprise IT project management. Prior to Cavan, she built and led the study supply export and international trade compliance process for an emerging clinical trials company — experience that sharpened her ability to manage complex, high-stakes operational workflows in regulated environments.
At Cavan, Kate supports IT systems management engagements across the healthcare and financial services verticals, with particular experience in Private Equity-backed post-merger integrations. She has served as project manager on Application Development, Disaster Recovery, and IT consolidation initiatives.
Kate holds three Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder — in Integrative Physiology; Ecology and Evolutionary Biology; and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology — along with a certificate in Public Health.
John Martin founded The Cavan Group in 1994 with a clear conviction: that enterprise organizations deserve specialized, independent IT consulting untethered from vendor relationships. Over the past three decades, he has built Cavan into an acclaimed professional services firm recognized for excellence in workload placement strategy, data center consulting, and disaster recovery.
John has transitioned to a Special Advisor role, where he brings his deep industry knowledge and founder's perspective to bear on company strategy, business development, and client relationships. He continues to support the firm's marketing and sales direction, drawing on 30 years of experience in the enterprise IT consulting market.
Prior to founding Cavan, John held technology leadership positions at Houghton Mifflin Publishing, Racal DataComm, and Fidelity Investments. He graduated with an honors degree in Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University (DCU) in 1986.
